Jamie is a professional routesetter based in Barcelona and an Expression ambassador.
He has been setting professionally for around 8 years, during which he has dedicated himself to modern commercial routesetting, providing routesetting services, and setting competitions at a regional level in Spain as well as various international open-style competitions.
He currently works as Head Routesetter at Sharma Climbing Gavà and takes every opportunity to set for competitions, events, and gyms in new places.
When he’s not setting, he can usually be found climbing on rock at one of the many Spanish sport crags, or in the gym coaching athletes and training hard.
He would say that his setting style is incredibly varied and changes according to the wall, holds, etc. It’s a mix of more modern climbing with a touch of old school. He likes playing with balance, momentum, and flow to create fun and challenging problems.
He first came to work with Circle through Expression at the Titan Wall event and has since worked more with Circle to see where this incredible tool can take routesetting. He believes it could be a great opportunity for setters, gyms, and climbers to interact through routesetting and further develop the profession.
